This podcast is as you know called running 44@60, however regular listener Nick Pope from Looe Pioneers decided to up the game and go for 50@60.

And not just any 50, but the Arc of Attrition 50 – one of the toughest ultra events in the UK. Nick successfully completed the run on Saturday January 28th 2023.

In this episode Nick shares his adventure including his preparation, his crew plan, his nutrition and how it went on the day including taking a nasty fall around halfway around and how he dealt with that as well as when he got to the final checkpoint well ahead of time but for a moment wasn't feeling up for carrying on even though he knew he could walk in from there.

Nick's run was meticulously planned from a support point of view and he created a comprehensive crew document for his wife Mags and himself to use on the day.

This will be a great episode that anyone who is thinking about taking on the Arc 50 in 2024

One of those people is me. I learnt a tremendous amount from Nick that will be so useful for me when I undertake the same challenge – and I’ll be 60+2 at that point!
