Hey, y'all - Joel and John here. Festivals allow us musicians to experience a show from all angles. We begin as part of the crew, helping the festival staff to prepare for the ensuing show. We then transition to being audience members, indulging in food and drink while supporting whatever band we share a bill with. Lastly, we ascend to the stage as the band. Direct intimacy is not as overt as with a small venue. However, with the integrated community-based social structure of a festival, the fourth wall does not stand tall enough to notice.
