My interview with Maegan came about in a unique way. Knowing about the ministry, at least ten mutual friends from church said I needed to interview Maegan as she had an incredible story. I’m so glad I followed their advice as her story is truly a beautiful one of God turning her ashes into beauty.

The phrase beauty for ashes comes from Isaiah 61:1-2. It says, “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me . . . to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

When Maegan surrendered her circumstances to God, she began to understand the gift of grief.
