Gillian McKirdy , mom, Psychologist and co-owner of Solasta Counselling in Calgary, chats with me about our mutual experience of parenting a child on the Autism Spectrum. We go through the learning curve of getting a diagnosis of a neuro-diverse child, therapies and supports available to kids and parents coping with a new diagnosis and the importance of the social-medical model in regards to support for any of our neuro-diverse and disabled individuals. We also discuss the importance of inclusivity in media in regards to the ASD community.
