From September 9th, through September 13th, 1971, the inmates of the Attica Correctional Facility, who were mostly men of color, stood up against the guards and racist prison system who treated them like subhuman.
After days of hope and negotiation, the uprising would end in a massacre.
In this episode, Madigan discusses what happened in those five days at Attica, and the ripple effect it has caused in the American prison system, and in the American Black community, since it happened.
