Dave Jones is an electricity analyst leading the coal phase-out work for Sandbag - a London & Brussels-based non-profit climate change think tank.

Dave spent 13 years working at E.ON analysing electricity & carbon markets. He is currently focused on an NGO campaign to help phase out coal in Europe.

He recently published a report analysing the past 4 years of coal policy in the EU, what has been done well & what hasn't worked as well based on whether the policies were: Just, Ambitious, Legislated, Clean, Direct, Reliable, Economic, Healthy & Smart.

I was extremely curious to chat with him, particularly because there are fascinating differences between the 2 leading economies in Europe - Germany & the UK. The former is famously ending Nuclear and has to compensate by (controversially) building new coal plants, while the latter has managed to nearly phase out coal entirely and is amongst the countries leading the charge.
