Alone in a house on Christmas eve, a kid is the victim of a home invasion, so he resorts to booby traps to save himself. That’s Home Alone, right? It is, but it’s also a bonkers French thriller known as 36.15 code Père Noël, among many other names. Film critic and Christmas movie expert Alonso Duralde comes in to talk about this oddity, which was released a year before Home Alone and the director of which alleged that Home Alone’s creators had plagiarized his work. (They didn’t, we decide.) All this plus a special appearance by a pull-string talking Kevin McCallister doll.
