Born in Kingston Jamaica and raised in the Carribbean section of Brooklyn New York, Sim Campbell has poured all of his life's experiences into a career as an author and rapper. His book "The Factor: When Death Before Dishonor is Tested" is a gritty, realistic account of an explosive drug war reminiscent of "New Jack City", "Kings of New York" and "Boyz in the Hood". Sim's cinematic style and skills with dialogue give this book a page turning easiness, and many of the scenes involving the lead character Too-Real and the love of his life Vanessa are especially moving.

In addition to the book, we also dive into Sim's music with a couple tracks Sissi and I really liked, "Who's To Blame" and "Waste My Time". Describing himself as an old school rapper, Sim's eight track "Pops Dedication" released earlier this year demonstrated a style that fuses reggae, pop melodies and rap with gritty lyrics. We really enjoyed our time with Sim!
