In episode 24, Dave sits down with one of the greatest
managers in the history of professional wrestling, “The Mouth of the South”,
Jimmy Hart.

The 71 year old veteran of more than 30 years in the
wrestling business has managed more than 50 singles wrestlers, with names like
Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Sting topping the list. Jimmy is perhaps even better
known for managing some of wrestling’s all-time best tag teams to greatness,
such as the Hart Foundation, Money Inc, the Nasty Boys, the Mega Powers, the
Natural Disasters. Between tag teams and singles, Hart’s clients won every
title there was to win in WWE during Hart’s tenure in the company.

Jimmy has kind enough to talk to me at length about all sorts of things from his years in the wrestling business -- what he learned from Dick Clark while on tour with his band
The Gentry’s with the Beach Boys and Sonny & Cher, Stephenwolf, The Monkees,
and his transition from the music business to wrestling thanks to Jerry Lawler; the birth of his “Mouth of the South” moniker through
brushings with Jerry Lawler and Andy Kaufman;the origins of his trademark megaphone and jackets, and who
paints them for him; his new beach bar, “Jimmy Hart’s Beach Bar & Grill”, opening
in Daytona Beach Florida in 2016; trading WWE memorabilia for NHL memorabilia with NHL team
equipment managers during wrestling tours; is days managing the Hart Foundation, and even gives a Stu
Hart impression; his departure to WCW and his roles while there; his role in the development of TNA and relationship with the Jarrett's; his experience on the reality show “Legends House”, his opinion
of Vince McMahon and his WWE Network and XFL ventures; and Jimmy also shares some stories about Andre the Giant, Roddy Piper, and an
absolutely crazy one about being held up at gunpoint by an escaped convict at
a gas station that led to the theft of the Ultimate Warrior’s car, and a high
speed chase that ended in a gunfight with police. Be sure to stick with us to the end of
the show to hear that one, you don’t want to miss it.

This interview was made possible by Invasion Championship Wrestling, an independent wrestling company in British Columbia, Canada, and many thanks to them for making it possible. ICW has put on 5 Kelowna Invasion events since 2013, raising tens of thousands of dollars for local charities in the process. Thanks to ICW co-founder Mike Chisolm, I was able to sit down and chat with WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart just prior to their most recent event in October 2015.
