Facebook is evolving to focus more on building communities, and groups are the natural tools to help forge those new kinds of connections. One billion people already belong to Facebook groups. About 10 percent of those belong to groups that Facebook has identified as “very meaningful”—communities that “quickly become the most important part of someone’s experience on Facebook.”

The power of niche

The dictionary defines a niche as “denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.” There are niches for basically everything. Think of it this way, a niche is tribe of people who all share a common interest. Today, we are going to talk about one way to connect with “your tribe,” that being Facebook groups. Facebook Page is essentially a Facebook profile for your business. As Facebook puts it, groups “allow people to come together around a common cause, issue or activity to organize, express objectives, discuss issues, post photos and share related content.”

Facebook groups

A simple Facebook search will help you uncover existing Facebook groups that are relevant to your life goals and passions. The process of finding these groups is easy. The tougher part is deciding which types of groups will be most useful to your personal and professional goals.

Inspirations worth sharing

Every week, Dustin R. Granger, CFP® and I want to share something that has inspired us, both professionally or personally. This week, I wanted to highlight a podcast expert that we learned from before launching Worth It. Pat Flynn is a podcasting genius who has put together a great course called Power-up Podcasting. Even though we used his course, I have gained valuable insights through the facebook group as well. If podcasting is on your radar, check out Pat Flynn!

Dustin’s inspiration this week comes by way of a musical artist named Michael Krajicek. He recently released an EP titled “Coin Operated Limelight.” Dustin said he has been listening to the title song non-stop. The song has a low-key, new aged sound with a little saxophone that carries you away. Check out the iTunes link in the resources section below.
