Of all spring flowers, I think hyacinths are my favourite. I like the shape of the petals and the fragrance and I was blown away when I came face to face with a brand new hydrangea at Groot Groen Plus in 2019, that has petals that look just like a hyacinth! It's called Hydrangea paniculata "Skyfall" and I spoke to Peter van Rijssen of Plantipp, who were presenting it in the new plants at Groot Groen Plus. It's fully hardy down to -30 Centigrade, it will do well in sunshine of part shade and is unfussy about the soil - perfect for a pot or in a border.
