We all want to help the bees, but it can be difficult if you garden on a balcony, or are renting your house and can't make major changes in the garden. the Be Conservancy have lots of suggestions as to great plants for bees, that can work in pots. For spring, try a mix of hyacinths and crocuses with hellebores or heathers. For summer, sedums, cosmos and foxgloves (also called Digitalis) are all very popular with bees. The Dutch plant breeding company, Florensis, have developed a new compact foxglove that flowers from May to November, providing more colour for your balcony and more for the bees too. It's called Digitalis "Pink Panther" and it will be available across Europe from April.
