Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military. Memorial Day, was formerly known as Decoration Day, in the United States. It originated during the American Civil War when citizens placed flowers on the graves of those who had been killed in battle.
