A note from Frankie on injustice and anti-racism

Hello podcast listeners, Frankie here. Just a very quick message from me to say that we’ve changed the production schedule for Women On Top and we will only be broadcasting black women’s voices for the month of June. This means there will be a short delay in getting the next episode to you, as we are parking what we planned to release this week. I created this podcast to offer solidarity and connection for all women in relation to their work, businesses and personal finance. This podcast was born from injustice. This podcast exists to amplify women’s voices. But the fight against sexism cannot distract us from other deep rooted inequalities. It is not enough for us as women to desire and chase what white men have. That is not feminism. It is easy to be lured into thinking that work is feminist, but it’s a disguise. That motivation will continue to exploit and oppress our sisters with black and brown skin, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is not enough to be not-racist. It is not enough to be shocked and horrified by hatred and blatant racism. We have to examine the systemic racist structures that our society is built on and do the work to change them. White women, we need to do the heavy lifting. We need to use our privilege and influence to help eradicate racism. If there was ever a time for us women to overcome the stranglehold of perfectionism and self-censorship, to find our voices and use them loudly and clearly, it is now, in pursuit of progress, equality and a better future for all. Let’s act with integrity and show up for this conversation to learn and encounter our blind spots head on. Thank you and we’ll be back with you soon
