Gender equality in the workplace is over 100 years from being our everyday reality. These statistics are shocking. They’re one of the reasons I encourage and help women to start their own business now, instead of wasting decades of their lives working for companies that don’t value them as employees.

I truly believe that if you have the desire to start your own business, you shouldn’t wait. Spend the next years of your life building and creating your own empire instead of slaving away for someone else’s. I also think that hiring a business coach is one of the best investments you can make for your business.

With a pretty saturated business coach market out there, it’s important to find the right coach for YOU.

In this episode, I go through the questions you need to ask yourself and any potential business coach you’re considering working with. Ultimately, your business coach should prepare you to succeed in your business without you.

Your business coach should have similar values to yours. You should feel comfortable talking to them about almost anything. You should also respect them enough to actually listen and put their advice and recommendations into action because what a waste of time and money if you decide to ignore it!

There are a lot of business coaches out there sharing some not-so-great business advice. I like to call them Vanity Coaches - they usually recommend building a large social following, which, while great in theory, doesn’t often come with a heap of sales. There’s a lot more value in making in-person connections.

Are you ready to invest in yourself and hire a business coach? You need to ask yourself this question and answer honestly. It will be hard and dedicated work, but the payoff will be worth it.

Have you considered investing in a business coach? Do you know how to find the perfect coach for you? What values do you want your business coach to share with you?

In This Episode:

Why you shouldn’t wait to start your own business What you need to look for to choose the right business coach for you What your business coach should help you do Why your business coach should share similar values to you Why you need to prioritize making in-person connections, not just social media followings What you need to be ready to do when you’re hiring a business coach

Quotes:

“I can make an impact. This is how I can change the future for my daughters. With my experience and knowledge, I can help women take their careers into their own hands and change the dismal gender equality statistics.” (10:56)

“I highly recommend choosing a business coach who has walked the path you’re trying to walk because they are your tour guide.” (13:38)

“You need a coach who not only knows her stuff but can help you understand it. You won’t have a coach forever, so you need to understand the basics of business and learn from your business coach so you can tackle business with or without them.” (16:18)
