Out guest this week is Irish sports journalist Cliona Foley who has been a sports journalist for 30 years, mostly spent as a staff sportswriter for Independent News & Media in Ireland, covering all sports from Gaelic games—hurling, football and camogie—to European & World Championships plus multiple Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since 2016 she has worked freelance contributing to a range of Irish newspapers & national radio.  We chat about what’s happening in women’s sport not just in Ireland but also in Europe and of course share our take on the Soccer World Cup.  And we have something to say about the media coverage of women’s sport too.  Cliona is also a podcaster; she founded 'Off The Bench' a women's sport podcast in 2015, which she now presents twice monthly as part of Off the Ball; Ireland's only exclusively sport radio station. Off The Bench aims to give female athletes and coaches a greater voice by covering issues of national and international interest to women in sport. The podcast is available on iTunes and online at www.OffTheBall.com in the podcast section. Links to both YouTube and audio podcast can be found @OffTheBenchOTB on Twitter.
