On this episode of Fer Sure, we talk to Andrew Thomas, who in addition to being a former professor at Carnegie Mellon, co-founder of seminal hockey stats site War On Ice, and an analyst for the Minnesota Wild, was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
Jay is still swamped with work, but Sara joins again as co-host, and even gets to play a game against a trivia heavyweight!
Here’s what we have for you this time (all time locations are without the ads because they are put in after we upload the episode)
00:00:00 - Intros, Andrew’s time with Minnesota and experience in the world of hockey stats
00:16:01 - Who wants to talk about Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? We did. We also talk about trivia in general, and Andrew’s presentation on how to prepare for Jeopardy.
00:36:56 - “If You’re Not in Third Position, You Might Miss the Playoffs.” I put together a game based on Andrew’s viral dancing chops on Millionaire. They have to guess if a name is a ballet dancer from a Russian Ballet Company or a member of the 2010 U-18 Russian Hockey Team. Of course Sara thought of the name “Plie-r or Player” after, which is annoying because it’s clearly better.
