Emily is from Austin and attended the University of Texas, she joined the military in 2003 and did several tours of Iraq and Afghanistan as a military member and civilian. She switched careers in 2013 and has been an airline pilot for 7 years now. She currently instructs pilots at a major airline on the Airbus 220 and works for ForeFlight on the Pilot Support Team. Her passions include traveling with her wife, all things airplanes, and teaching/learning personal finance topics.  As a Flight Instructor, she is raising up a new round of pilots who are quickly moving from flight school to captain status.  She discusses the changes she's seeing in the industry and how grateful she is to be a part of it. The profession of aviation pilot has been historically and still is, a male-dominated occupation. Notwithstanding aviation's history of legendary women aviators, the airline sector of the aviation industry has been slow in recruiting, training and advancing female pilots until now.  With baby boomers reaching retirement each major airline is set to bring on 6000-8000 new pilots.  There's never been a better time to become a Pilot and Emily breaks down what that career path looks like.
