Ara Chawdhury is a Filipina filmmaker, human rights activist, and tarot reader who takes her comedy seriously. She produced a stoner film, SUPERPSYCHOCEBU with prize money she won for her short film, OPERATION PRUTAS at the Sinulog Film Festival, during Duterte’s bloody drug war and is currently seeking political asylum in Northern California. Her directorial debut, MISS BULALACAO, won YCC best first feature and best screenplay at the Cinemaone Originals Film festival.
