There hasn’t been an episode for a little while, so today’s episode is a little longer than usual! It was recorded pre-pandemic with the incredible force of determination and resilience - Maddy Warren who was nominated by Deena Gornick in episode 18.

Maddy is a consultant, TEDx speaker, skydiver, kidney patient advocate and she has been on dialysis for 23 years after experiencing kidney failure at the age of 14 and she has the amazing self-appointed title of Queen of Dialysis.

Over the course of our conversation, I learnt so much from Maddy, not only about kidneys and self-dialysis but about courage, independence, community, resilience and not giving up on what’s important to you, regardless of the hurdles that may get in the way.

I felt so inspired by Maddy and in awe of her ability to reframe even the most monumental of challenges and setbacks and I hope you will too.
