Social justice advocate Eakraj Adhikari moved from Nepal to Toowoomba in 2008, and spent two years as the leader of the local Nepalese community.

Eakraj shares his experiences in coming to Australia, including his run for local government, the cultural nuances in asking for help, and wrestling with the decision of whether to change the names of himself and his children.

Eakraj has seen the local Nepalese community grow from small to one of the most well established in Toowoomba–and now Nepalese locals play a significant role in reaching out to other migrant communities in the region. Not only that, but Toowoomba’s Nepalese community is seen as a leader amongst Nepalese migrants Australia-wide.

Join Eakraj for a frank discussion about navigating two cultures and the challenges migrants face when moving to Australia.
