21. How to Have Gospel Conversations with Tweens

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week we are still talking about all the ages and stages. Today we are talking about the tween years. That’s the new term, right?! This is the age of middle school years, where they are becoming independent, they are figuring out their true identity, and starting to learn the why behind what they know. Bethany shares that during this stage we want to focus on teaching our child the why behind the gospel. Why do they believe what they believe, why do we need repentance, why did Jesus have to die? Our kids have to understand the why, so that they are prepared to defend the gospel.

How to help your child when they want to start pushing you away Helping your child understand that their true identity is in Christ and it only matters what He says about them Walking our child through their struggles and their sinful nature. Helping our child to know that God knows they will have sin tendencies and he has a plan for them. That they are free of their sin debt because of whose they are.
