Whatcha Know Monday Reboot: Lynwood and Senseless Violence

Welcome to another week of crazy. The LA Sheriff's Deputies who were shot were taken to get care where they were met by terrorists who attempted to gain access to the hospital, shouting that they hoped these officers died, and calling the officers standing guard-reportedly some of those officers were black women-pigs among other names.

The city manager of Lynwood, Jose Ometeotl, nearly justified the attempted assassination by stating the violence is to be expected because of all the harm law enforcement has done to the community over the years. This type of rationalization of violence isn't rooted in justice, logic, or the fight for racial justice at all. If we applied this logic broadly, it would allow for shocking violence around the nation. And that seems to be exactly where we are headed.

There is no justice in what was done here. And what is worse is the actions by the individuals at the Emergency Room. Purely outrageous. No progress was made here. This is people being violent and foul for the sake of being violent and foul.

Level-headed people must dialogue and find a way to convey a more positive message. Unity shouldn't be shunned, it should be the goal. Anyone who says that is not the right path is just pushing violence for their own enjoyment.

Finally, among the many people that should be arrested or held to account is the city manager, Jose Ometeotl, who must be terminated from his position immediately and without impediment nor delay.
