As #Coronafest2020 drags on, it is starting to wear on folks and their idea of how far the government can go in exercising "emergency powers." It really all depends on exactly what constitutes "an emergency." When you stop to think about it, the whole thing is a little bit unsettling.


But when we go back in history to  Dave's binge-watching list for this week, we find that once upon a time, people on both sides were willing - and eager - to set aside Constitutional precepts in order to get what they wanted. Whether that was to assure that National security was maintained or to bring down a criminal. It all went to show that what is new is really just a repetition of the past and that when we reach the point that attaining or maintaining power is more important than the rule of law, we are set ting ourselves up for another Watergate...
