Erik Martin was the longtime General Manager of Reddit. He’s currently a Lead Entrepreneur at Nike and has worked as a marketing/community executive for Airtime, WeWork, and Depop. He's been named one of the world's 100 most influential people by Time Magazine, as well as a top 50 innovator by Adweek. He also runs the site Assholes on Demand where he helps people who aren’t extremely online deal with online problems. In this conversation we talked about the early stages of Reddit and how he got involved with it, the complexities of moderation and how the scale of Internet users makes it so difficult, the broader free speech debate online, forming ideologies online, older generations using new technology, and more.
