The “What Is Cinema?” Podcast is Dallas’ newest arts and culture podcast, brought to you by a grant from the City of Dallas and recorded at the legendary Texas Theatre.

The podcast is presented by The Oak Cliff Cultural Center and hosted by film nerds and Oak Cliff natives, Lee Escobedo (THRWD) and Patrick Patterson-Carroll (THRWD), with audio engineering by Christopher Kolleade (The Reunion Podcast) and branding by Arturo Torres (Illustrator of the New York Times bestseller, “The Rap Yearbook”).

The mission of this podcast is to explore the artistic framework of cinema, including historical, cultural, and theoretical contexts for analysis, as well as feature the many film professionals living and working in Dallas. Additionally, it is also our goal, through outreach, to engage the youth of Oak Cliff with discussions on cinema, expanding their artistic palette and connecting them to the amazing institutions, Texas Theatre and Oak Cliff Cultural Center exisiting right in their backyard.

Each monthly episode of the “What is Cinema?” Podcast will center around the film programming at Texas Theatre.
