From 2004- Greg Borowski, author of "First and Long: A black school, a white school, and their season of dreams." The book chronicles the complicated and difficult first season of the combined football team of Shorewood High School (a mostly white school in an affluent suburb) and Messmer High School (a mostly black school with many inner city students from low-income families.) A documentary film ("Messwood") that takes the story up to the present day is being screened Saturday evening at UW-Parkside.
