In this episode of Weird Renown, I want to discuss iconic mystery writer, Dame Agatha Christie.
Guiness World Records credits her with being the best selling fiction writer of all time, and she was made a Dame for her contributions to literature. Her excellent mysteries have been cherished by the world for over 100 years, but Agatha Christie also took part in a mystery of her own.
In 1926, her husband asked her for a divorce and then she disappeared from her home in Sunningdale.
She was considered a missing person and her disappearance was featured on the front page of the New York Times. Agatha was found almost two weeks later, alive - but she said she had no memory of what had happened to her.
This episode contains sensitive subject matter pertaining to suicide. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or self harm, there are resources available online to speak directly with a trained professional or to find local community outreach services.
