Shay Mitchell | Collision from Home 2020

You might recognise actress, founder and philanthropist Shay Mitchell from her role in 2018’s most binge-worthy Netflix show, You. She originally rose to fame as one of the leads in the ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars, and has since taken on a number of roles, including Dollface’s Stella.

Acting’s not her only talent. On top of running a lifestyle-focused YouTube channel, Shay is the founder and chief brand officer of travel and lifestyle accessory brand BÉIS. As a frequent traveller, Shay recognised the struggle of finding sturdy, reliable luggage that doesn’t offend the eyes – so she decided to make it herself. BÉIS launched in 2018 and has since experienced a growth rate of more than 200%, in no small part down to the work of Shay herself. She describes herself as a hands-on founder, and has been involved in every aspect of the business since day one.

As a philanthropist, she’s partnered with charities tackling sex trafficking and high suicide rates in the LGBT community, and engages in ongoing work with WE Charity.

With an Instagram following of almost 28 million and a YouTube following of more than four million, Shay knows a thing or two about building a brand. Now, as an entrepreneur, she’s taking it one step further. She’s joining Collision from Home to discuss the joys and challenges of an early-stage company, what it takes to be an influencer, and building personal and professional brands simultaneously.
