9th April 1970 – in a press release for his debut solo album, Paul McCartney is asked “Are you planning a new album or single with The Beatles?” his answer, a simple ‘no’. It was enough to send the newspapers scurrying to rewrite their front page. ‘Paul quits the Beatles’ was the headline the next day. It sent the collective fans of Beatlemania into mourning and shockwaves around the world.

In today’s episode of Heard This, we’ll be distilling down the events that led to the break-up of arguably the biggest pop band in history - The Beatles.
