The lack of strikers and the club's dereliction of duty by failing to sign one in January came back to bite the Hammers almost straight away as Andriy Yarmolenko failed to cut it in Michail Antonio's absence and youngster Ademipo Odubeko was given a chance off the bench only to be hooked again soon after.
