This episode is a departure from the athletic world, but I think it is nonetheless a great comeback story worthy of sharing. I met Tomas Marin at several Wheat Ridge CO Chamber of Commerce leads group meetings, and while chatting with him over coffee I learned about his remarkable story. Tomas fell into gang life on the streets of Denver in his early teens, and not long after participated in his first car theft. The gang became another family that dominated his life throughout his teens. As many of you may know, it’s very hard to leave gang life, and as Tomas describes, many of the members he ran with are still gangsters even into their 30s and 40s, O.G.’s as they like to call themselves; Tomas terms them losers. Others are in prison. Tomas, though, pulled himself away after learning about Jesus, and becoming a follower has given him a more positive path to be a family man, engaged business owner, and strong contributor to the community. In this episode, Tomas shares his remarkable journey and many sound tips for how he has become a strong family man and built a successful business in the credit card payment processing industry where it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. Tomas talks about how he builds relationships and provides a higher level of customer service to make Salvus Payment Solutions an out-of-the-ordinary partner in his clients’ success. It’s a lively and very enlightening conversation into the world that Tomas lived in that few of us understand and many do not emerge on the other side from and accomplish as much as Tomas has.
