THE HEADLINES:

I talk with model & champion of midlife women Rachel Peru about her experience of life really beginning at 47 We discuss body confidence and the affects of the media on the way women see themselves We talk about how mainstream brands are introducing more and more older or plus size models in order to be more inclusive

THE WHO: This week I speak to the super inspiring Rachel Peru about restarting her life at 47 and how it’s hugely pushed her out of comfort zone to build a personal brand all around her most authentic self.

THE WHAT: As you know I am a champion of all women and women like Rachel are the epitome of female empowerment, so it’s safe to say we had a blast. Rachel speaks openly and honestly about her experience as not only a curve model but also as a ‘silver haired’ model. She also tells all about her desire to make an impact above getting paid and how she's shared many a shoot with a celeb or two, all with similar missions. Rachel is all about body confidence and spends a lot of her time behind the camera in swimsuits and lingerie, a thought she may not have considered in her younger years. Her passion shines through as she explains how her mission is to show other women, particularly those in midlife that they are far from invisible. 

THE WHY: Rachel has broken so many barriers and worked with huge influencers in the modelling world, as well as becoming one herself. She is not shy on speaking up for women’s voices, especially in an industry so dominated by younger women. She believes that all women need to be seen and represented and discusses with me openly about how she is more confident now at 52 than she was in her 20’s and 30’s. Rachel has carved a new life for herself and I hope that in listening to this episode you are inspired by the possible, no matter what age.
