Mask mandates, school closures and equity

The Biden administration and blue states like Oregon are focused on "equity". What does that term mean? More importantly, what are the Biden administration and blue states doing to advance their goals of equity? We argue that the Biden administration and blue states are ceding too much power to the teachers' unions, destroying any hope of actually achieving equity and actually hurting the BIPOC and female populations they claim to care so much about. We argue that the COVID restrictions like school and business closures were implemented on a solely political basis and did not result in lower death counts for blue states. Instead, we argue that those restrictions economically devastated women and BIPOC communities, thwarting any lip service given to equity. Finally, we address the most recent Multnomah County mask mandate and argue that mask mandates are ineffective and that the real focus should be on vaccinations and reducing underlying conditions that contribute to COVID deaths and hospitalizations.
