I had an amazing conversation with Ryan and Alisa Nakken of Woodland, California. When we sat down on a windy day during Shavuot in Orosi, California, Ryan was absolutely new to faith and Alisa had very minimal church exposure. By their own admission, they had lived their lives as “heathens”, and had no idea what people were talking about in 2020 when biblical and apocalyptic conspiracy theories were tearing through the country like a virus. We talk about how the tragic circumstances of the birth of a friend’s child led to their first encounter with YHVH; how falling down the rabbit-hole of 2020 led them to some unexpected discoveries about the Creator of the Universe, and what happened when they picked up Bibles for the first time in their lives.
