Report 29, "Facebook & Instagram Are Not Free, Their Terms Says So." 

December 20th, 2020 Instagram modifies their terms of services which you accepted. If you use their services, you automatically agree. And you also agree to the fact you waive your right to sue them in a class action lawsuit.

YOU AGREE THAT DISPUTES BETWEEN YOU AND US WILL BE RESOLVED BY BINDING, INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION AND YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION. WE EXPLAIN SOME EXCEPTIONS AND HOW YOU CAN OPT OUT OF ARBITRATION BELOW.

The reason for this change, in my opinion, comes after the exposure to their censorship during recent congressional hearings.

Also in their terms, tracking intensifies with machine learning and A.I. — it keeps their narrative intact with automated algorithms Facebook defines. Break the narrative, account terminated, or face fakebook jail.

A big part of our Service is creating and using cutting-edge technologies that help us personalize, protect, and improve our Service on an incredibly large scale for a broad global community. Technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning give us the power to apply complex processes across our Service. Automated technologies also help us ensure the functionality and integrity of our Service.

When you select a username, be careful not to contain any part of your domain name or URL without prior written consent by the supreme rulers of Facebook. Break this rule and face removal for violation of terms.

You can’t use a domain name or URL in your username without our prior written consent.

Deleting content creates complication in the Facebook world. Once a request is sent, the process begins within thirty days. However, to remove it from their backups or disaster recovery systems another ninety days for completion. If certain circumstances take place, the data stays past the ninety days. For example, if a technical limitation occurs, such as whatever they decide classifies as a technical issue, the data stays longer. But they promise to delete when feasible, without a time frame of what feasible is. If Facebook deems your content violates their terms and they need to further investigate, even though you deleted your account, the data stays because Facebook says so.

Your personal data no longer belong to you as the terms allow Facebook to collect your contacts, calls logs and SMS history when you upload, sync or imports from any device into their service.

We also collect contact information if you choose to upload, sync or import it from a device (such as an address book or call log or SMS log history), which we use for things like helping you and others find people you may know and for the other purposes listed below.

They enjoy the added benefit to spy on you with the cameras attached to your devices. Twenty four by seven surveillance, and it gets better.

It can also include what you see through features we provide, such as our camera, so we can do things like suggest masks and filters that you might like, or give you tips on using camera formats.

When you make a donation, buy a game or any other transaction with their products, they have permission to your credit or debit card numbers as well as account and authentication information. Where you live, ship to and contact information, also available at their fingertips. You agreed to all this.

If you use our Products for purchases or other financial transactions (such as when you make a purchase in a game or make a donation), we collect information about the purchase or transaction. This includes payment information, such as your credit or debit card number and other card information; other account and authentication information; and billing, shipping and contact details.

More data collected from you comes from any device used with their app including location, operating systems, hardware and software versions, battery levels, signal strength, storage space, browsers, apps, file names, types and any plugins. If this wasn’t big brother enough, don’t worry. They also collect the windows open and their position on your devices. An added features of their terms, they’re allowed to record all mouse movements to help them know if you’re a person or a bot. But that’s not all. Unique identifiers for any account you use in addition to WI-FI access points, cell towers, beacons and bluetooth signals tracked. Welcome to contract tracing on steroids. With cell tower and signal strength, even with GPS turned off, they know your location. And all this just to use their app.

Besides the above time-zones, ip addresses, languages, connection speeds and phone numbers tracked to help you. It’s for your own good. And the list goes on.

Device attributes: information such as the operating system, hardware and software versions, battery level, signal strength, available storage space, browser type, app and file names and types, and plugins.

Device operations: information about operations and behaviors performed on the device, such as whether a window is foregrounded or backgrounded, or mouse movements (which can help distinguish humans from bots).

Identifiers: unique identifiers, device IDs, and other identifiers, such as from games, apps or accounts you use, and Family Device IDs (or other identifiers unique to Facebook Company Products associated with the same device or account).

Device signals: Bluetooth signals, and information about nearby Wi-Fi access points, beacons, and cell towers.

Data from device settings: information you allow us to receive through device settings you turn on, such as access to your GPS location, camera or photos.

Network and connections: information such as the name of your mobile operator or ISP, language, time zone, mobile phone number, IP address, connection speed and, in some cases, information about other devices that are nearby or on your network, so we can do things like help you stream a video from your phone to your TV.

If you have not read the terms and condition, then I suggest you do right away. If you have a Facebook or Instagram account, delete them and move onto platforms such as MeWe, Parler, Minds or Gab which protect your privacy and doesn’t extort them.

Nothing in the social media world is free. And this, my friends, we must always remember.
