- Understand Math: -200 = 2:1 favorite, +150 = dog has 40% chance of winning.
The bettor must be right more than 75% of the time with his big three-dollar favorites in order to earn a profit.

- Understand How MLB lines are set: The starting pitcher is more than half the equation. Same two teams, same field, not unusual for one team to be -150 the one night, the other team to be -150 the second night based entirely on starting pitching.

- Understand the stats that matter. ERA, W/L record, batting average No BABIP/DIPS, FIP/XFIP, K/BB, defensive metrics, etc.

- Be Aware of Derivatives: first 5, series prices, will they/won’t they score a run First inning/team to score first

- One word: bullpens. The more you know, the more you’ll win. Manager tendencies; what’s the throwaway game in the series; which pens can you trust (bet on & bet under); which pens are getting lit up (bet against & Over).
