We talk about the divisions between urban and rural areas of the country and how they have effectively existed since this countries inception.  Anti-federalists and Federalists fought a bitter struggle about maintaining our original government and replacing it with a stronger central government.  It turns out that both factions were right.  A strong central government was fantastic for commerce and industry as the federalists had claimed but it has also come at the expense of continually decreasing rights as the anti-federalists stated.  Understanding this argument that has traversed the timeline is key to identifying solutions in the divided nation that we now live in.
