Revelation Part Eight: Empire's Gonna Empire. Some very important nuggets here for the contextual understanding of the book. Who were the seven churches? Why were they being written to exactly? Who are the competing gods? How does Augustus, "the illustrious one,” factor in? Roma? How does the language of the time, the myths and exaltations, factor into the writing? Have we lost the plot on subverting the Empire? Are we the Empire?!?
As with everything, what is to be extrapolated? What from this chapter is for us? What else do we discern?
