113 - Leaving the Democratic Party (12.8.2020)

Former President Obama's recent dismissal of the movement to defund the police was a perfect illustration of the fact that moderate Democrats simply have different values and objectives than progressives.

In this episode we examine what leaving the party would look like for progressives here in California, a state where Democrats own every statewide office and over three-quarters of the seats in the state legislature. When should the break take place? What does it look like?

We also take a moment to discuss the events over the weekend between Proud Boys/Trump supporters and antifascist demonstrators in downtown Sacramento. Every Saturday for the past month Proud Boys have roamed the streets, attacking folks experiencing homelessness and targeting people of color. The police don't stop them.
 
Well, antifascist demonstrators came out in numbers this weekend to let them know that they don't get to terrorize people anymore without a fight.
