First produced in 1917, this play depicts a provincial socialist newspaper which is facing the possibility of enforced closure. The editor, Edward Wills, has just returned from a tour of the country which has left him depressed and disillusioned about the capacity of the paper to spread its message. However, the arrival of some unexpected visitors persuades him to review his plans for the future of the paper.
