We take you to the Commitment March where hundreds of thousands of people from around the nation gather at the Lincoln Memorial, 57 years after the iconic Martin Luther King speech, for the anticipated televised event, featuring speeches from Al Sharpton, the MLK family, and leaders from various cities. "Say Their Names" is a common theme of the day as speakers remember the recently fallen Black lives to police brutality.
This episode shares speeches that received less airplay - those from resilient activists and parents who lost children to police force. We also talk with attendees who flew and drove hundreds miles to be there in Washington DC, representing their communities and organizations back home. We discuss their collective purpose to continue the fight for civil rights and to amplify Black voices.
