Title: Assisted Dying: the right to die vs the sanctity of life
Synopsis: In this episode of Pathway to Peace, the Presenters take a look at the recently debated Assisted Dying Bill that is being scrutinised in Parliament. How will the Assisted Dying bill affect health professionals and could harm actually be done to the patient if it comes into law? What are the secular arguments for and against the Bill? Does Islam view suicide in the same way as other world religions? What does Islam say about the sanctity of the soul and the divine gift of life? Why is there suffering in the world and would assisted dying end it? These are just some of the questions that will be examined.
Presenters: Aalia Khan, Shazia Bhatti & Melissa Ahmedi
