Synopsis: In an article published on the Al-Jazeera news website on 4th January entitled: ‘The year of elections – Is 2024 democracy’s biggest test ever?’, more than two billion people across 50 countries are expected to go the polls this year. With some academics stating that there's a growing perception that democracy is not a perfect form of government and it ‘won't fix everything’; what people care about are the basic human rights of food, clothing and shelter. In this episode, we explore what exactly has gone wrong with democracy and have we fallen out of love with it?
