Hazrat Ayesha (may Allah be pleased with her) was the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (May Allah be pleased with him), who was the closest companion of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) and the first Khalifa of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be on him). She was a wife, a stateswoman, a scholar, and an enlightened thinker; she was a perceptive woman who demonstrated exemplary moral qualities and became one of the most influential persons of the Islamic history. Her life is proof of Islam’s progressive stance on women. She was a prominent figure who challenged the prevalent stereotypes and taboos of society of the time.
