Unity and Islam
Islam emphasises the importance of unity between humankind.
The concept of Tawheed, Oneness of God, teaches this, because it makes us realise that humankind is one regardless of any apparent identity-based differences we may hold. The concept teaches us not to divide humankind based on socially constructed prejudices. The past year, 2020, has brought to the fore the many divisions that are embedded within our society. The pandemic showed us the dire consequences of socioeconomic inequities. In all of this, was the common belief that we needed unity amongst mankind in order to put right the wrongs that we witnessed.
