V&V Episode 032 Marissa Nadler and Leonard Cohen's Songs From a Room

Doom and gloomy, haunting, shoe-gazey, or gothic folk are ways that Marissa Nadler's music may be described. Those may very well be true, but I think there's more to her talent than that. And based on our conversation, there is a metamorphosis coming.
Like all great artists, evolutions are inevitable and are typically gateways into the next big chapter of an artist's career. Some may look back and say that 2020 will be remembered as, maybe, the most challenging time of all of our lives. But some may look back on it as a time of rebirth and inner exploration. I am looking forward to what Marissa may make of this situation.
On this episode we'll also discuss her early days in Providence, getting over stage fright, and of course, the music of Leonard Cohen. Hence the overwhelmingly dark rant. Good times, great talk.
