Ajit Pai is a Republican American attorney and served as Chairman of the US FCC from 2017 to 2021. He was first appointed to the FCC in 2012, serving as a member under Barack Obama and then moved up to Chairman under Donald Trump. Pai is well known for criticizing and attempting to end net neutrality in 2017. Pai stepped down as Chairman the day Joe Biden was inaugurated on January 20th, 2021. He has been a partner at the private-equity firm Searchlight Capital since April 2021
