Today we are joined by Solo, esports competitor and top laner for Team echo fox. Solo has been a competitive player for nearly 5 years playing for standout teams such as Cloud9 Challenger, Ember, Clutch Gaming, and Echo Fox. Unike most of our guests, Solo has not jumped into the online content creation community of Twitch and Youtube. Instead, this esports competitor is a brand ambassador for Team Echo Fox and a common site as a shoutcaster or other types of enagements. What sort of games do you stream and what would people most know you by?
Congratulations on the strong performance leading up to this point. Tieing for the 5th spot is a great performance in such a grueling league.
The entire competition in the LCS is strong but as you mentioned in the Akshon esports article, some teams are pulling away from the pack. What has it been like as an organization standing on the threshold of top 5 including TSM, C9 and Team Liquid.
Despite the struggle outperforming teams like clutch gaming has to feel like some progress for you considering you were formerly a member of the team. The same can be said for cloud9 though in reverse with your time as a challenger. How do you feel your understanding of these teams as a former player influencer your game sense and approach to the competition?
Let’s go back for a moment and get some context for people. When and how did you first start playing video games? Like way before LoL, what was your first game.
Your first official entry on Liquipedia is 2015 with the C9 challenger roster. How did you get into the competitive scene? What can you tell me about 4 year journey you’ve had since then?
What was your ‘aha moment’ in knowing you could keep playing games instead of getting a traditional job?
I see you used to have a Twitch channel and do not have a youtube. This isn’t always the standard for players with your talent and position. What can you tell me about your choices to both make and not use these types of content creating platforms?
How does your positioning as a dedicated player impact your own personal brand? Have you given thought to engaging your celebrity and going the ways of Rush and Imaqtpie?
I can respect the dedication to your craft and wanting to focus on the competitive nature and the full esports experience. What are you doing as far as personal training to ensure you are maximizing your time there?
What sort of training regiments do they have you on over at Echo Fox? Does diet and exercise play a role?
How did you get your name ‘Solo’.
What can you say was the most influential moment in your becoming a professional gamer? What brought you here?
In the end of the day this is a business. You need to be able to continue your progress. Without getting into specifics of your income what can you discuss with us about the business of being an esports pro. Do you get a salary and a piece of winnings? How do licensing deals and other types of opportunities fit into your current or future landscape?
What’s it mean in 2019 to be in the LCS? What sort of promotional tours and various things like this podcast do you get pulled around to on any given week?
What advice can you give to people trying to improve their chances of getting signed by a team?
