Genesis chapter 46 recounts the journey of Jacob and his family to Egypt. Faced with a severe famine in Canaan, Jacob is persuaded by his son Joseph, who is a high official in Egypt, to relocate the entire family to Egypt, where there is an abundance of food.  It emphasizes the fulfillment of God's promise to make a great nation out of Jacob's descendants, and also highlights the reunion of Jacob with his beloved son Joseph after years of separation, marking a significant and emotional moment in the family's history.
